Justice Ginsburg

I am not a fan of Justice Ginsburg. Several reasons for that. She has publicly stated she does not consider the US Constitution the best model for future constitutions - mostly because it does not support "positive rights" (i.e., rights that the government most do for the people). https://www.dailysignal.com/2012/02/08/justice-ginsburg-i-would-not-look-to-the-u-s-constitution/ I am not a fan of such positive rights - that lead to bread and circuses, because they "freebies" from the government are never enough. She has supported a very "flexible" interpretation of the Constitution, a basic legal philosophy I disagree with. She has been extremely "indiscreet" when discussion President Trump. https://reason.com/2019/12/18/justice-ginsburg-opines-on-biased-senators-and-president-trumps-knowledge-about-the-constitution/

Accusations

I consider these kinds of statements "Trump will do everything to make sure the 202 election is not fair" ( https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-talk-shows/473569-nadler-trump-will-do-everything-to-make-sure-2020-is-not-a-fair) to be really dangerous for the country. With President Trump likely to say the same kinds of things - based upon his language in the 2016 election - officially, both parties will consider a win by the other side as illegitimate. This is a huge danger to the country and to political stability. While there has been some of this attitude in every election at least 2000, the "resistance" movement with their blunt statements of "Not My President" raised it to a new level. One of the saving graces of this country has been the general acceptance of election results. Statements and actions that undermine that general acceptance are a threat to the very country they claim to be defending. The United States has survived for 200+ years wi...

Economy Today

The most recent unemployment numbers show a continued historic run of low unemployment. This tempered a little by the fairly high (but reduced) percent of working age people not in the workforce (i.e., not trying to get a job). Even with that caveat, however, these are really good numbers. AS the attached article says - Love President Trump or Hate him, these are good numbers. IF nothing else, President Trump has not hurt the overall US economy - it has continued to improve under his Administration. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/12/06/cramer-like-or-hate-trump-these-are-the-best-numbers-of-our-lives-on-jobs.html
