Violence and cultural disorder

It's really frustrating that our political system doesn't seem to allow real discussion.  The killings Uvalde are a symptom of a much broader issue in our culture.  It is not a healthy one - especially for our youth.  Everything from the high proportion of single parents, to the "Trans" movement, to abortion, to video games and culture, to guns is almost designed to confuse youth trying to understand where they stand in the world.

You have to start with the basic truth that youth are not ready for fully reasoned thought.  On different issues both the left and the right agree on this.  The left makes this clear when talking about guns or religion in schools, while the right makes the point when talking about the trans-movement and abortion.

Then you have be sad about the lack of willingness on both sides of these debates to discuss options that are outside the "official positions".  The left seems to want no restrictions on abortions at all, to want any 6 year old to decide their biological sex, and to not allow any exposure to religion to any youth outside he home of church .  The right seems to want gun access to be completely unrestricted to any youth how have reach the magic 18 years of age, and seems OK with re-inserting formal religion into the public schools. None of these positions are really tenable.

The culture on the left refused to even discuss the overwhelming percent of mass shooters who are from broken homes.  It is blindingly obvious that the high incidence of  single parents is strongly related to the high crime rates, starting with poor school performance and continuing into gang membership rates and mass shooting, where about 75% on school mass shooters come from single family homes.

The culture on the right seems to believe guns are never an issue, when they are the easiest way to kill people around.  The frequency of youth preforming school schoolings demonstrates that some restrictions on guns for youth is necessary.  I think something like requiring an older individual - over 21 - to co-sign and take some liability for any youth owning or using a gun is the way to go.  If an 18 year old can find a 21 year old to co-sign and share liability for behavior, they shouldn't have a gun in the first place.  And the parents of anyone under 18 committing a crime with a gun should be held equally liable.

The whole trans and abortion issues are mixed up in a similar way.  The left believes a 6 year old can determine their biological sex, and can decided to abort a fetus/child at 14, but an 18 year old can't be allow to have a gun.  On the right, there is little or no recognition of the difficulties experienced by the very small but real percent of youth who have true gender dystopia, or the issues with rape and incest and personal issues related to abortion at any age.  I'm against any chemical intervention on gender issues until at least 18 years of age, but personal expression needs to be allowed, to the extent practicable, while recognizing that personal expression can change (i.e., people, and especially youth, can "do-trans") and that others have come call on civil behavior in group situations (i.e., bathrooms, locker rooms, gyms, etc.).

I personally all of this comes down to an unhealthy culture for youth.  The reality is that youth need clear side-boards for behavior and current culture does not provide them.  Between the isolation of video, the mixed messages on sex (all high schoolers are gonna do it, but don't take pictures, or do it with anyone older or younger than yourself, but dress as provocative at you want but never look are react to that provocative dress).  It's perfectly fine to have kids as a single 16 year old.  In an historic/even evolutionary sense, youth have always had pretty clear roles sideboards.  It's no wonder that when culture either removes those, or makes then completely unclear, many youth cant deal well.
